Morrow survives a murderous Shawnee raid on her family as a child, but many scars remain. While her father befriends a Shawnee chief and his son, Morrow resents their intrusions into her frontier life. Her distrust and even hatred are mirrored by many of the white folk of the time. Frantz paints a disturbing picture of peoples of both races whose unforgiving hearts drive them to commit terrible atrocities.Fortunately, this is also a story of Morrow as she comes of age. The excitement of goings-on in a fort, multiple suitors, hidden meetings, a country with divided loyalties, and a struggle to balance all with faith make this an interesting and suspenseful read.Frantz has a way with prose that will make you believe you are present in the pristine Kentucky wilderness. You may be wary of quiet Indian scouts who descend upon you with no warning. And you will feel your scalp tingle, hoping you can keep it attached to your head, as you encourage Morrow who best to trust in a world marred by greed and retribution. Can faith win out?

I have strayed from reading Christian historical fiction for a while now. So, imagine my wonder and delight at resuming, beginning with this Laura Frantz novel. I had downloaded it many months (maybe even a year) ago. E-books had collected on my Kindle so astonishingly fast that I haven't been able to keep up. This is the first of her books I have read and it will not be the last. Her writing is breathtaking, conveying a mood, a setting, a character reveal in a single sentence. The story of Morrow Mary Little consumed me until the last word. If you like Christian romance in a historical setting, look no further than this. Laura Frantz' storytelling skill is a marvel. My personal measure of a great novel, is whether I will want to read it again. And for this one, the answer is a definitive yes. If you have not given her books, a try, do not hesitate. It will not be a waste of your time.

When I saw this book by Laura Frantz and read the description, I was interested in reading it. I had already read the Frontiersman's Daughter, and since I really enjoyed it, I decided to read this book also.I actually loved this book even more than the Frontiersman's Daughter. I enjoyed the characters and the unique storyline. I enjoyed watching Morrow mature and grow through the course of the story. The romance was very well done. This book touched my heart and encouraged me in my personal Christian walk.If you love historical Christian fiction, this book - and Laura Frantz's other books - are certainly worth giving a read. They bring the characters and time period to life so well. You feel like you are there!

Okay, my feelings were mixed about this book. I want to start off by saying that I didn't really identify with the main Character. This isn't a fault of the author, just a difference between me and Morrow. Because I didn't really understand the main character, it made some parts of the story hard for me.Morrow was very sweet, and I loved the threads of forgiveness and redemption that were woven into the story. I also enjoyed the backdrop of the story: Kentucky during the revolutionary war. We see a part of the war that isn't talked about much; the effects it had on those living west.To be honest, I didn't understand why Red Shirt kept leaving and coming back, leaving and coming back. It got a little tedious. Although I understood it a couple of times, most of the time I just cocked my head. Some of the situations felt forced, and didn't flow well for me. It wasn't so bad that I hated them, it just diminished my enjoyment of the book. With all its faults, this book did keep me tuning pages. I stayed up until 2:00 AM trying to finish it. It was full of action, and it had a passionate romance that was based some on character. Although not my favorite book ever, I am looking forward to reading more by this author.

Initially when I started this book, I wasn't very certain about. It pulled me in, but not far enough. But, I was determined to skim and get to the end. Well, somewhere along the way, the book pulled me fully in and I found myself totally immersed in the story. So much so, that my thoughts were on finishing the book when I was busy.My version of Courting Morrow Little was on my Kindle. I was reading it on my iPad and then switched over to the Kindle to finish. The story is about Morrow Little. She lives during the frontier life, and her life is torn apart at a young age when her mother and baby sister are killed at the hands of the Shawnee. Her brother, is missing. It then skips to where she is living with her aunt, and is returning home per request of her father. She arrives home to discover her father has made friends with some questionable characters. There are men at the fort who seek Morrow's attention, but she just isn't interested. Until she falls in love with an unlikely person, and in turn is no longer safe on the frontier. Together the leave, seeking a new life in the Missouri frontier. All in all, I did enjoy the book and would probably read it again. It's not in my list of "deletes" that I have stored on my Kindle. The beginning is a little slow, but over time, as I mentioned before, you are pulled into the story. In a sense, I think there could have been a little more character development. There were areas that I felt the story was teetering on floundering, such as her friends, herself and father.Personally, I think it is worth a read for someone to develop their own perspective. I enjoyed it and would love to read a continuation.
